Varsity splits, JV runs win streak to seven in tri-match

 
 

The Lady Indians' varsity and JV took five-game win streaks into a Thursday tri-match with Stephens County and Rabun Gap. The JV Lady Indians won both matches to stretch their win streak to seven in a row. The varsity squad split, falling first to Rabun Gap before rebounding with a win over Stephens County.

VARSITY

The #6-ranked Lady Indians saw their five-match win streak come to a close with a 2-0 loss to Rabun Gap. The girls then rebounded with a 2-0 win over hosts Stephens County.

In the Rabun Gap match, TFS fell 18-25 and 21-25 to drop the match. A 26-24 close first set win over Stephens was followed with a 25-14 second set to clinch the match.

The Lady Indians are now 18-8 overall, and will get a long break, and return to action on Saturday, September 24 in a Gainesville playdate.

JV

The JV Lady Indians won both ends of their tri-match on Thursday, taking a 2-1 thriller over Rabun Gap and then a 2-0 win over Stephens, stretching the win streak to seven. A 25-18 win in the first set against Rabun Gap was followed by a 22-25 set to knot the match. In the final set, TFS won 15-8.

It was a quick 2-0 win over Stephens, taking a 25-17 set win and then a 25-20 set to claim the match. With the wins, the JV team is now 14-4 overall.

"Chesney [Tanksley] worked very hard and had some really great sets that allowed Kiersten [George], Caroline [Smith], and Katerina [Foskey] to get some good hits," says coach Tykia Thompson.
