MS tennis grabs momentum wins over Rabun Gap ahead of league tourney
In what stands as the final tune-up for the MS tennis teams before the league tournament begins, the boys and girls both secured wins on Monday afternoon to gain momentum.
Though Rabun Gap is a league opponent, this matchup was pre-determined not to count toward the league standings. TFS won both anyway, as the girls won 5-0 and the boys slid past Rabun Gap 3-2.
"It was a great challenging match as preparation for the tournament next week," says coach Anthony Cox. "We had some tight matches, but I always say it's better to learn from a win than learn from a loss."
The Indians are now 7-3 overall and 3-2 in league action, while the girls are 6-4 overall and 4-1 in league play. Both teams secured the second seed, and will get a first-round bye in the tournament.
In the semifinals, the boys will take on the winner of #3 Banks County and #6 Rabun Gap, while the girls will take on the winner of #3 Macon County and #6 Rabun Gap. That semifinal match is set for October 5 at Rabun County.
