Varsity volleyball team heading to state competition

 
 

The Tallulah Falls School varsity volleyball team qualified for their second straight state playoff appearance with a fourth place finish in the 8A Area Tournament. The Lady Indians traveled to Lakeview Academy where they defeated Providence in the first round 2-0 (25-19, 25-23) before defeating Lakeview 2-1 (22-15, 26-24, 25-22). 

Freshman Ashley Crosby led the team with 23 kills, seven aces, and three blocks, while fellow freshman Kate Blackburn led the team in assists with 45. Blackburn added four aces, three kills, and 10 digs. Junior Grace Brewer had 44 digs and added six aces. Junior Chloe Turpin had four aces, 14 kills, 39 digs and 2.5 blocks. Junior Anna Davis contributed one ace, 17 kills, 39 digs, and 2.5 blocks.

Freshmen Ashley Crosby and Kate Blackburn earned All-Area honors. Crosby was named to the All-Area 2nd Team while Blackburn was named to the All-Area Team Honorable Mention.

The team travels to Landmark Christian School in Fairburn for a 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 match.
