National Honor Society
The National Honor Society (NHS) is an organization established in 1921 to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll recognition or entry on a resume, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Students who have attended Tallulah Falls for at least one semester and are qualified for consideration based upon their achievement of a 4.0 weighted GPA are nominated for membership by a committee of faculty and staff who meet, review a completed application, discuss, and determine those students who exhibit those attributes collectively known as the “four pillars” of the National Honor Society. Once the list of nominees for selection is populated, the qualifying students are sent a congratulatory letter informing them of the committee’s decision. The students then have the option of accepting or declining the nomination.
Once a member, students are expected to maintain their GPA, serve as examples to other students through their leadership and integrity, and participate as a chapter member in at least five hours of service per semester in NHS- and non-NHS-related activities.
Any student who transfers into Tallulah Falls School who is already a member in good standing of the NHS from a previous school must contact the faculty advisor to initiate the transfer of membership.
