JV Indians rally in the second half to remain undefeated

The JV Indians rallied for a seventh straight win, defeating Loganville Christian 42-34 in a Friday home game. Playing in their first game of the 2021 calendar year, the Indians were outscored in each of the first two quarters before a monster third quarter rally gave them a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Neither team found much success offensively in the first, though Gavin Page's early 3-pointer briefly gave TFS a 3-2 lead. The visiting Lions got a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to end the first, snagging an 8-3 lead.

After falling behind 11-3 in the second, Page hit another big triple to jumpstart the Indians offense. A Diego Crotta free throw, and another Page basket pulled it to within 14-9. Both teams found a surge in the second, and Loganville held a 22-16 halftime lead.

Page picked up where he left off, draining his third 3-pointer of the game to open the third, as the Indians went on a 14-3 run to take a 30-25 lead. Page's fourth 3-pointer gave TFS its first lead since its first bucket of the game. The Indians held a 5-point lead going into the final quarter.

Though Loganville Christian cut the lead to just a couple in the early minutes, timely baskets and solid free throw shooting by Crotta kept TFS ahead for good. A 3-point play by Crotta padded the lead to 40-29 in the closing minutes. The Indians outscored the Lions 26-12 in the second half.

Page, who dropped four 3-pointers, led the way offensively with 16 points, 10 coming in the first half. Crotta had 13 points, with 10 of his coming in the second half. Bryan Cope and Colton Hicks had four apiece, George Ketch three, and Sam Ketch two. TFS moves to 7-0 on the season, and return to action on Saturday night at home.
