Sweet 16 Preview: Girls Soccer

The dream season continues for the Lady Indians, who are ranked #8 in the state and are fresh off a history-making 3-2 win over Trion in the opening round. That moves the girls to a school-record 12 wins against 3 losses. Addie Higbie scored twice, including the game-winner to propel the girls onward. That brings the senior's record-setting goal total to 42 and an even 70 for her career. Tessa Foor also scored, her fourth goal of the season, while Gemma Farris, Stasa Beratovic, and Kyndal Anderson all had assists.

The Lady Indians now hold a 5-match win streak heading into the second round, and have 78 goals scored (school record), which averaging 5.3 per game. On the flip side, the team allows just a hair over 2 goals per contest. The team is well-balanced with an offense and defense that are very good.

Countering TFS will be the Class 1A defending State Champions, Social Circle. The Lady Redskins are 12-5 on the season and have 85 goals scored (5.0/game) against 49 allowed (2.9). Social Circle has won its last two, including a slim 2-1 win over Whitefield Academy in a near major upset in the first round of the playoffs. Junior Peyton Brooks leads the attack with 55 goals and 10 assists. Brooks was also the leading scorer from last year for SC. There are several key playmakers that are underclassmen, as 84 of the team's 85 goals come from non-seniors. Despite the youth, this team has depth, talent, and experience in the big games. The keeper, sophomore Addie Stracner, has 60 saves and a 0.8 GAA. Social Circle comes in ranked #7 in the state, and is 7-4 on its home field.
