MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL

Seventh-grader Brooke Hayes of Cornelia was named an Indian of the Week by swim coach Annette Cochran. “Brooke is a returning swimmer who has shown dedication and determination,” Cochran said. “She has worked hard this week at practice learning that focus and mental toughness is as important as physical skill. This was especially evident as she worked all week often leading her lanes. She is proving to be a strong and competitive swimmer this season.”

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY

Eighth-grader Dan Griswold of Demorest was selected as an Indian of the Week by middle school boys basketball coach Tom Tilley. “Dan had an exceptional scrimmage on Friday night at Basketball Madness,” Tilley said. “In seven minutes of play, Dan played excellent defense, scored five points, including one-for-one from the three-point line and converted a layup on a steal.” 

VARSITY GIRL

Junior Santy Dembele of Tampa, Florida was named an Indian of the Week by varsity girls basketball coach Brandy Corbett. “The day after volleyball ended Santy reported to basketball practice ready to put in work,” Corbett said. “In my coaching career, I have rarely seen such a tremendous difference in a player from one year to the next. She has given 110% every day on the court. Santy’s effort and attitude have been outstanding. She has been encouraging to her teammates and much more aggressive on both ends of the court. She brings energy to the team that is contagious.”

VARSITY BOY

Freshman Tate Shaw of Clarkesville was selected as an Indian of the Week by swim coach Annette Cochran. “Tate is new to swimming and is showing great promise for the season,” Cochran said. “He has quickly learned the four competitive strokes and is receptive to and solicits feedback to perfect his technique. Tate has shown determination and dedication this week. He quickly and impressively learned the hardest stroke, the butterfly, with ease. He is going to be a great swimmer.”
