Perdue leads TFS in precision rifle match

The Rifle Team had four members travel to Anniston on Saturday for the CMP Monthly Matches. Andrew Erwin, Madi Perdue and Sam Stamey shot in the 60 shot standing match.

"Erwin shot his average, 543 integer out of 600 and a 569.3 in decimal," says coach Tim Stamey. "Sam Stamey shot below her average, 563 in integer and shot her average 591.9 in decimal. Perdue came in to the match focused and also bracketed by greatness. To either side of her (separated by an empty lane due to COVID) were Olympic Team members, Tim Sherry and Alison Weisz. Madi focused on each shot and talked herself through lower scoring shots to shoot a personal record 565 in decimal and a TFS record decimal score of 594.2. We are extremely proud of Madi and the hard work she has been putting in to make these gains."

In the 3 position match, Erwin shot a 566 out of 600, his second-highest PR score for this event. Perdue, after her grueling standing match, shot a 564 which is her average in 3 position.

"Ethan Simmons since making the team six weeks ago has been the hardest working shooter in the range," adds Stamey. "Ethan will endure the discomfort of uncomfortable positions longer than anyone and will not take a break until he has worked through an element of his training. This has resulted in huge gains in his training and thus earned him the right to shoot in a match earlier than any athlete I have coached. Ethan shot a 494 which is lower than what he is capable of but his learning curve increased dramatically. We are extremely proud of Ethan and I look forward to the Greatness he will bring to our program!"
