Lady Indians win sixth straight in 3-0 win over Rabun Gap

The Lady Indians varsity volleyball made quick work of visiting Rabun Gap on Tuesday night at home. TFS won in straight sets, 3-0, as the programs played a best-of-five match.

Tallulah Falls School took the opening set 25-14. After taking a quick 8-2 lead that forced a timeout by Rabun Gap, the girls went up 11-2 as part of a 9-point run with Allie Dalton serving. The visitors pulled within 17-12, but TFS closed it out with an 8-3 run. Katy Corbett had seven kills, Barrett Whitener had four, and Sarah Jennings had three. Dalton was outstanding all around, making great serves and setting up the TFS hitters well.

TFS was even more efficient in the second set, earning a 25-12 win. Again it was a quick start that set the pace. With Dalton again serving, the Lady Indians went up 8-0. Rabun Gap had many unforced errors, but pulled to within 13-6 later in the set. The Lady Eagles held that deficit throughout, but the Lady Indians won 25-12. Corbett had five kills in the set, while Jennings had two.

Rabun Gap wouldn't go quietly, and put up a great fight in the final set, which resulted in a 25-20 TFS win. Both teams swapped points and were knotted at 8-8 before TFS went on a 7-2 run to take a 15-10 advantage and force a timeout. In total, the Lady Indians used an 11-3 run to pull away. Rabun Gap rallied to within four points late, but Corbett put the game away with one of her five kills in the set. Jennings had four kills. Dalton and Nancy Fisher were excellent at the serve position in the final set.

TFS is now 16-12 on the season, and travel on Thursday to East Jackson for a tri-match with the host school and Prince Avenue Christian. The Lady Indians have beaten both opponents already this season.
