Lady Indians secure home playoff game after 3-2 OT win; boys fall

 
 

CHAZ MULLIS - The Lady Indians found a win in overtime against visitor George Walton on Friday night, while the boys took a tough loss against the Bulldogs. 

GIRLS

The first half saw Honora Kahwach score the team’s only goal of the half with a breakaway. George Walton responded in the last two minutes with its own goal, going to the break at 1-1. 

A scoreless second half led to two 10-minute overtime periods. George Walton stole the only goal of the first via penalty kick. Kahwach, and later Grace Kim, helped erase their deficit due to chance errors by the George Walton goalie, ending the match at 3-2.

With the win, the Lady Indians are now 8-3-1 overall and 8-2 in region play. The win secured the #2 seed as the Region Runner-Up, granting the girls a home playoff game next Tuesday in the opening round of state.


BOYS

George Walton cut straight to the chase, scoring two goals midway through the first half. The Indians were unable to respond, ending the half at 0-2. The Bulldogs tacked on another goal over the Indians in the second half, resulting in 0-3 at the final buzzer.

The Indians move to 8-4 overall and 6-4 within region play. The boys are forced to open the state playoffs on the road next week.
