Cross country keeps tradition alive with annual quadrathlon

The annual TFS Cross Country Quadrathlon was held on Thursday afternoon at Tallulah Gorge State Park, with the middle school and varsity cross country teams competing. The event consists of four parts - kayaking, swimming, bicycling, and running. The 2022 edition involved 46 TFS runners participating in the event.

The annual event is one that involves many different people on campus - the cross country teams of course, as well as sports medicine, Natatorium staff lifeguards, plant services, Tallulah Gorge State Park, and a multitude of parent volunteers. Thomas Burnett of Fellowship of Christian Athletes also made pancakes after the event for over a hundred people.

The boys middle school winner of the Quadrathlon was Gavin Dodd, who finished in 46:37. Megan Prince (57:14) won for the middle school girls. The varsity winner was Jackson Shadburn (1:00.35) in an extended Quadrathlon, and Dani Prince (1:05.03) led the girls varsity team. It marks a fourth straight year that a "Prince" has won the event, as both Dani (junior) and Megan (eighth grade) won the female division to join older brother and current US Naval Academy runner Evan Prince, who won the previous three events.

“The memorable event is a longstanding TFS cross country tradition that brings together our XC families, creates camaraderie with the town and school, and promotes the unique atmosphere and distinguished treasure we have here as the Light in the Mountains of Tallulah Falls," says cross country coach Scott Neal. "It continues to be one of the most memorable events in the cross country program.”
