Julianne Shirley - Track & Field

Junior team captain Julianne Shirley, the team's Top Performer Award recipient and three time state qualifier, had a highly successful month. After a fourth place high jump, 2nd place 200m, and victories in the 400m and 4x4 relay at the Region Championship, Julianne advanced through the Section B meet in all four events to the State Championships in Rome where she placed 11th in the 200m (26.62), 5th in the high jump (5-0), 3rd in the 400m (59.75), and anchored the first ever victorious relay (4x4) in a near four second school record with a best ever split of 59.2. Among all eight classifications, she finished the season ranked 97th out of over 500 high jumpers and 139th out of over 1000 one oval racers: the 4x4 relay ended ranked 67th out of 424 schools. An incredible teammate, Julianne's leadership intertwines with the two other team captains - Dani Prince and Molly Mitchell - to create an upbeat, competitive, and grateful culture that impacts all they undertake. -coach Scott Neal

Sam Ketch - Track & Field

Junior team captain Sam Ketch, the team's Top Performer Award recipient, set personal records three times in May. He first flung the 1.6kg oval 147-7 in a PR victory at the Region Championships, advanced through the Section B meet with a toss of 146-3, then at the State Track & Field Championships threw beyond the ten year old school record of 150-5 by three inches on his fifth throw, then finished his junior season with a heave of 151-6 to place third. Sam improved over 28 feet throwing the platter since last season. -coach Scott Neal
