State Preview: Swimming

As February 7 hits, it marks the much-anticipated GHSA State Championships for swimming. After the girls finished 8th last season for a second straight year, and the boys 12th, both are seeking a historic finish yet again.

Lady Indians to compete as individual qualifiers at state include: Madison Dampier (50 Free, 100 Free, 500 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 100 Fly, 200 IM, 200 Free), Carsyn Griffis (100 Free, 100 Back), and Mattie Patterson (100 Free, 100 Flyy, 500 Free). The girls 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay, and 200 Medley Relay all qualified as well. The swimmers of the relay events include: Addison Albury, Dampier, Griffis, Patterson, Molly Rickman, Adelaide Tatum (Alternate), and Olivia Bonner (Alternate). 

The Indians' lone individual qualifier was Henry Rickman (100 Fly, 50 Free, 100 Free). However, the boys will have the 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay, and 200 Medley Relays at state. Rickman is part of the relay group that also includes Grayson Penland, David Plaisted, Caden Polley, and William Xu, with Cole Borchers and Teagan Penland as Alternates.
