Lumpkin rallies with 7-run sixth to scoot past TFS

Tallulah Falls suffered a heartbreaking loss against Lumpkin County on Saturday, dropping an 8-6 final in which they led until the bottom of the sixth in Dahlonega.

#4-ranked TFS had a 4-1 lead going into the bottom of the sixth frame, where Lumpkin scored seven times. The Indians scored two in the final inning, but it wasn't enough.

TFS put up two runs in the first, capitalizing on errors. They added to it in the second on a Chase Pollock RBI single, scoring BJ Carver. Meanwhile, starter Andrew Skvarka was rolling through five innings. After giving up back-to-back doubles in the sixth, Skvarka was pulled for Diego Gonzalez. He walked four batters before Jackson Savage came in to pitch. He walked a couple as well, with four of the walks in total bringing in a run to put Lumpkin up 6-4. The next batter singled to make it an 8-4 game, as two more came home.

Tallulah Falls got a pair back in the top of the seventh on wild pitches, but couldn't complete the comeback. Danny Grant had a pair of hits and two runs. Skvarka got a no-decision, while Gonzalez (1-1) took the loss. TFS is now 5-2 on the season.
