MS Indians draw, Lady Indians lose at Lakeview

The MS soccer teams went to Lakeview Academy on Monday evening, with the boys coming away with a draw and the girls losing.

The Indians worked a 2-2 tie after holding a 1-0 lead at the half. Jackson Crumley crossed a ball over to JT Head, who punched it in for the lead. Lakeview scored on a pair of set pieces to take a 2-1 lead in the second half. Avery Chatman played the long to Crumley, who tallied the equalizer.

"At TFS, we have very high expectations of our soccer teams, and a tie is not what we envisioned for this evening," says coach Travis Mullis. "That being noted, I am very proud of how our guys fought back in the second to level the score. Set pieces are difficult to defend and we have to get better at it. We'll hope to do a little better tomorrow when we travel to White County."

The Indians move to 1-0-1 on the season.

Meanwhile, the Lady Indians lost a 3-0 final. Keeper Elizabeth Hilson had 21 saves on the evening, and was a big factor in keeping the game scoreless at the break.

"What a turnaround for my girls," exclaims coach Laura Higbie. "Considering Lakeview beat us 10-1 two weeks ago, I am extremely proud of the 60 minutes of soccer my girls played today. We look forward to improving more in every match."

Some key players were injured, and every player was forced to step up their play. Everyone got playing time in the contest.

The Lady Indians are 0-3 on the season.
