TFS sophomore selected for GISA All-Select Honor Band

Tallulah Falls School sophomore Mengfan (Frank) Huang of China was selected to play alto saxophone with the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) All-Select Honor Band hosted by Mt. Paran Christian School in Kennesaw.

The 64-member band rehearsed over two days for more than eight hours and presented five pieces at a Jan. 21 concert, according to TFS music teacher Curt Frederick.

One of the contemporary pieces called for piano with Frederick playing the 9-foot grand piano for the percussive piece entitled “Ruckus.”

TFS was one of the 30 participating GISA schools sending students to the 2017 GISA All-Select Honor Band, Chorus and Orchestra.

“We congratulate Mengfan for his work and dedication to musical excellence,” Frederick said.
