TFS coaches select Indians of the Week

Tallulah Falls School coaches have named four Indians of the Week for the week of Jan. 30-Feb. 4.

Freeman

VARSITY BOY

Thala Freeman, a senior from Liberia, has been named a TFS Indian of the Week by varsity basketball coach Jim Van Hooser. “Thala has become an outstanding defender who always affects the game with his shot blocking and rebounding,” Van Hooser said.  “His defense has been a big factor in our 21-3 start.”

Nichols

VARSITY GIRL

Senior swimmer Julia Nichols of Clarkesville was selected as an Indian of the Week by swim coach Annette Cochran. “Julia, an outstanding senior, swam her last high school race this past weekend,” Cochran said. “She set a personal record in her leg of the 400-yard freestyle, helping the team finish 16th in the state. She swam the lead-off leg of the race with a 56.64 second 100-yard freestyle, a full 3.2 second improvement over the preliminary race on Friday. This set the relay team up for a dramatic six second improvement and a new school record in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Julia also swam in the 200-yard medley relay, 100-yard butterfly and was the anchor in the 200-yard freestyle relay.”

Kivett

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY

Eighth grader Andrew Kivett of Clarkesville was selected as an Indian of the Week by middle school ‘A’ team coach Lowell Hamilton. “Andrew has been our most improved player this season,” Hamilton said, “He continued getting better down to the last game. He is very competitive and always does his best when on the court for games and practices.”

Murdock

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL

Macy Murdock, a seventh grader from Carnesville, was named an Indian of the Week by middle school girls basketball coach Randy Morris.  “Through hard work, she has become a starter on the team,” Morris said.  “Macy is one of the quickest players on the team, and has added to an already tough defense. Macy also has an excellent shot from the three-point line in. She played well in the Tri-State tournament and we look forward to her being a team leader next season.”
