TFS coaches name Indians of the Week for April 1-6

Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected their Indian athletes of the week for April 1-6.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL

Seventh-grader Julianne Shirley of Clarkesville was named an Indian of the Week by track & field coach Scott Neal. “Julianne is a core performer, role model leader and life blood of the middle school track & field team,” Neal said. “A consistent winner of the 200-meter, 400-meter and high jump, Julianne is the team top point scorer and fastest relay leg. Her GREAT character is what truly highlights her personally as well as the positive representation of TFS athletics through her exemplary conduct and leadership. She instantly seeks to put into practice cues or new challenges and is unafraid to stand alone or stand out.”

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY

Sixth-grader Zack Freeman of Demorest was selected as an Indian of the Week by track & field coach Scott Neal. “Zack has grown tremendously as a middle school track & field athlete,” said Neal. “His hurdling and jumping abilities are rapidly improving because he has demonstrated the focus, passion and persistence required of an athlete who wants to achieve and to be a dependable teammate. Zach quickly seeks to demonstrate any technical corrections while applying cues. His patient perseverance pushes him to continually improve and compete as a trustworthy athlete.”

VARSITY GIRL

Sophomore Sam Stamey of Clarkesville was named an Indian of the Week by precision rifle coach Tim Stamey. “As the captain of our precision rifle team, Sam led the squad during the Southeast Regional championships by ensuring they were properly converting their equipment between positions on the firing line,” Stamey said. “She continuously encouraged them to ignore the distractions and anxiety of such a huge match and focus on their shot process. On the second day of matches Sam set three new TFS records: a perfect 200 (20 bullseyes) in prone; a 188 in standing and an overall match score of 576 out of 600 to lead the team to a 10th place finish in a match that included the best precision rifle teams from nine states.”

VARSITY BOY

Senior Marvin Thiennukul was selected as an Indian of the Week by varsity tennis coach Randy Morris. “Marvin, our senior captain, had the privilege of playing the number one singles player from Habersham Central last week,” Morris said. “The first set was very intense with Marvin dropping a superset tiebreaker 5-7. However, Marvin came roaring back in the next to sets to emerge victorious with scores of 7-5, 6-4. Great job, Marvin!”
