Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected their Indian Athletes of the Week for August 26-30.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL

Eighth-grader Jenna Chesser of Cleveland was named an Indian of the Week by middle school cross country coach Scott Neal. “Jenna ran quite well in two large races this week,” Neal said. “She placed sixth of 110 runners to lead the TFS girls to a fourth-place finish at the Athens Academy Invite. Two days later she finished tenth of 254 runners in the 19 team Chestatee War Eagle Invite where she ran strategically excellent, passing more than a dozen peers in the second half of the course. Jenna continually displays the essence of GREAT with peers and opponents, practice and competition, academics and athletics.”

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS

Middle school boys soccer coach Travis Mullis selected two eighth grade athletes as Indians of the Week – team captains Austin Ball of Tiger and Jake Wehrstein of Demorest. “Leading up to our first match against Highlands both players offered guidance and initiative in all team-related activities,” Mullis said.  In the match, both were instrumental in the team's significant success. Austin scored goals and provided assists while Jake defended tenaciously and started the attack. Both players are three-year starters on the team.”

VARSITY GIRL

Senior Sophie Alexander of Sautee Nacoochee was named an Indian of the Week by varsity cross country coach Scott Neal. “Sophie ran her second-best 5K time ever (23:05) to finish tenth of 113 varsity harriers and 184th overall to lead the Tribe to a fourth-place finish out of 14 scoring schools at the Chestatee War Eagle Invite,” Neal said. “She has improved about two minutes since last year and approaches every practice with discipline and determination. Sophie embodies our theme of toughness.”

VARSITY BOY

Senior Maik Murenzi of Rwanda was selected as an Indian of the Week by varsity soccer coach Brett Adams. “Maik is a great addition to the men’s soccer team,” Adams said. “He showcases what it means to be a supportive player in both the physical and mental aspects of the game,” Adams said. “Maik has a passion for the game that impacts his effort on the field and makes him a valuable player on the squad.”
