Esports opens season with a win for the Rocket League

Esports at TFS is underway, as the season kicked off Tuesday against Columbus High School and Thursday against Woodward Academy and Needham High School.

The TFS Mushrooms of the League of Legends, dropped the match against Columbus, though coach Casey Barron liked what he saw.

"The match was very competitive," says Barron. "I was very proud of the way we competed and look forward to watching the TFS Mushrooms play this season."

On Thursday, the Rocket League teams, The Farming Simulator and the Tallulah Falls Indians, took on Woodward Academy and Needham. The Farming Simulator took a 3-1 win, while the TFS Indians, which consists of three ninth-graders, took a hard-fought loss.

"The young TFS Indians team had a good preseason, but met up against a very good Needham High School in their first match of the regular season," says Barron. "The match was fast-paced."

This season, like in every other athletic program, comes with added obstacles.

"All of the Esports teams are facing many challenges due to the pandemic," states Barron. "I am very proud of the way this team has come together and despite the obstacles, they continue to show their TFS character during every match. I also want to thank my assistant coach, Josh Brady, for helping me get this season started. This is going to be an interesting and exciting fall season of Esports so stay tuned!"
