Maggie Jackson sets 18-hole school record in TFS tournament win

The Tallulah Falls girls golf team was victorious in the Vickie Goetze-Ackerman Invitational held at the Athens Country Club on Thursday afternoon.

Maggie Jackson was the individual tournament champion with Brinson Hall finishing fourth. Hannah Lundy also did well with the best score in her group.

The tournament consisted of eight teams and 32 total golfers, and the scoring system was the Stableford format. In that setup, golfers earned point totals based on what they did on each hole. An eagle is worth four, birdie three, par two, bogey one and nothing on a double bogey. In this format, unlike in traditional stroke play, the higher score is better.

Jackson earned 38 points to win by a single point. She shot in traditional scoring a 2-under 73, while Hall carded a 3-over 78 (33 points).

Jackson’s 73 is a new school record for 18 holes, which was held by Hall in a 2019 outing in which she shot a 74.
