ESports season closes in Final Four loss to Lambert

The TFS ESports League of Legends team, the TFS Mushrooms, fell to Lambert in the Final Four of the state tournament, ending the 2020-21 season. Lambert is the two-time defending state champions, though TFS competed well against its competition.

"Our team held their own and took defeat with grace, kindness, and true sportsmanship," says coach Casey Barron. "I could not be more proud of a group of young men this year. The entire ESports team worked hard and played relentlessly despite the challenges thrown at them and still finished in the top eight and top four in the state."

The ripple effect of the success this season won't completely be known for a couple of years.

"The loss was a building block for the senior-laden Rocket League team and the young Mushrooms," says Barron. "They have truly laid a solid foundation that they all can be proud of. Thank you to everyone who supported us this year, from the administration to the students, many of you have sent emails and shared kind words to the team and we appreciate it more than you know."

The members of the team are:

  • Rocket League: Eli Higbie, Baylee Macbeth, Cain Chitwood, and Grant Barron
  • League of Legends: Junho So, Daniel Shin, Jason Sang, Jerry Sang, David Hu, Caleb Carter, Ben Fisher, and Justin Yu
