Flik presents Chef’s Table desserts
Dessert options on Sept. 22 at Tallulah Falls School sparked the creativity of the Flik chefs.
A Chef’s Table event delivered two sweet treats known for flamboyant presentation.
Cherries Jubilee and Bananas Foster delighted dining guests, said Director of Dining Services Dave Janecek, serving the TFS learning community via Flik Independent School Dining.
"We love cooking for the students in the dining room,” Janecek said. “When we do a Chef's Table, we offer dishes they have most likely never had before so giving them the opportunity to try new things is exciting. This one was definitely a hit!"
Recipe history is included below:
Cherries Jubilee
Created for Queen Victoria, Cherries Jubilee featured the royal’s favorite fruit and was presented to the public in honor of her Golden Jubilee in 1887 and again at her Diamond Jubilee in 1897.
Bananas Foster
Originating in the culinary-centric city of New Orleans, Louisiana, the recipe was modified from a Brennan family favorite. In the 1950s, the port of New Orleans was an entry point for banana imports.
