Indians of the Week for week ending October 30
TFS has named Indians of the Week for the week of October 25-30. This week's selections are Josie Chesser and Emery Sims for high school, and Lupita Carrillo and Hudson Penland and Luke Thomson for middle school. MORE INDIANS OF THE WEEK
Josie Chesser - Cross Country
HS Girl
Freshman Josie Chesser ran her best race of the year at the Region 8-A Private Championships, placing 10th in a personal record time of 22:47, nearly two minutes faster than two weeks earlier on the same course, and fast enough to move into the TFS XC Legacy List top ten. She led TFS to its second-ever state-qualifying performance as a team and will run at the pinnacle course in Carrollton on November 6. Josie ran smart, strategic, and strong to pass others in the second half of the race while bringing along her teammates as well. She is running her best at the end of the season when it counts while developing much confidence along the way, smiling at the most painful times. -coach Scott Neal
Emery Sims - Swimming
HS Boy
This is Emery Sims' 2nd year on the team and he continues to show significant strides in his endurance, technique, and speed. Emery chooses to stay after practice to continue his improvement in his endurance. Emery maintains a positive attitude throughout difficult sets and always seeks feedback for improvement from his coaches. Emery’s drive to improve is paying off as he swam his best 100 free times this past Friday by over 10 seconds. -coach Rachel Nichols
Lupita Carrillo - Basketball
MS Girl
Indian of the Week for middle school girls basketball is Lupita Carrillo. Lupita has shown an eagerness to learn. She is not afraid to ask questions and she pushes herself in practice. She's also an encouragement to her teammates. With each practice, she improves and gets stronger. I look forward to seeing Lupita grow in her knowledge of the game this season.

Hudson Penland & Luke Thomson
MS Boys
The Indians of the Week are the boys basketball team managers, sixth graders Hudson Penland and Luke Thomson. The first week of practice they were eager to help with a tremendous attitude. No matter the task assigned, the boys have jumped right in. Hudson and Luke have embraced the opportunity to be a part of the team and are undoubtedly going to contribute a great deal to the success of the teams this season.
