Indians of the Month: October 2021

Tallulah Falls School has named its Indians of the Month winners for October 2021. The winners are Caroline Ball and Canon Brooks for the high school, and Lizita Miller and Ethan Wheeler for the middle school. PAST INDIANS OF THE MONTH

Caroline Ball - Cross Country

HS Girl

Caroline Ball has been a distinct glue of accountability and encouragement throughout the cross country season as well as a leading runner. She placed 13th at the Region 8-A Private Cross Country Championship in a personal record time of 23:04, helping the team to qualify to state for the second time ever. Caroline has been the most consistent runner all season, improving her times along the way and always being a light of hope, inspiration, and dependability. -coach Scott Neal

Canon Brooks - Cross Country

HS Boy

Junior Canon Brooks ran his season-best race (20:19.70) at the Region 8-A Private Cross Country Championship to place 22nd and move up as the #4 TFS runner of the day. Canon came out late for the team, then went through a nagging injury for a while, but did everything needed on a daily basis to not only recover but to come back stronger. He has taken a leadership role on the team, is highly encouraging of others, and runs as if every place counts. He has a good balance between the transformation aspect of relational team contributions and the transactional performance needed to help the team be competitive. -coach Scott Neal

Lizita Miller - Cross Country

MS Girl

Seventh grader Lizita Miller was the most consistent and the continual top performer on the MS XC team.  In the last week of the season, she placed second at the Tri State Championship race at TFS, eclipsing her course best in the process. Two days later, she won the Kent Kramer Classic at Athens Christian, defeating teammate Olivia Henderson by less than a second after pacing strategically from behind throughout the race and until passing the lead runner in the final stretch to propel the team to the victor's trophy and her to the huge champions medal. Again, two days later at the Georgia Middle School State Championship in Cochran, Lizita paced herself strategically, running negative splits of 7:34/7:30 while passing numerous harriers in the second half, to place 22nd out of 191 in the small school championship division. Her two mile time ranked her 130th of 964 running throughout the day.  Zita is a lively, competitive runner and fun teammate. -coach Scott Neal

Ethan Wheeler - Cross Country

MS Boy

Eighth grader Ethan Wheeler ran three races in the last week of the season; he started the week off placing third in his course best time at the Tri State XC Championship at TFS, then raced to third place of 76 at the Kent Kramer Classic on two days later. Ethan finished up the season that Saturday by placing 15th of 215 runners in the small school championship division at the 2021 Georgia Middle School State Cross Country Championship. His time ranked him 62nd out of 1085 harriers among the seven boys races during the day. Ethan is a gutsy, fervent competitor. His time of 12:37.38 is the second best TFS MS boys state time ever and #2 on the TFS XC Legacy List. Ethan is a true example of GREAT! -coach Scott Neal
