TFS basketball teams both state-ranked heading into December

Entering December, both the Indians and Lady Indians basketball teams appear in various state rankings in the top-10.

The Indians are currently ranked #5 in Class 1A Private on MaxPreps' rankings. The boys are 5-0 to start the season, and have big games coming up at home against Hayesville (NC) and Towns County, the defending 1A Public state champions.

This marks the second straight season that the Indians appear in the state rankings, as the team was ranked #9 last season on the way to winning the 8-A Private Region Championship. It's the 6th different season TFS has appeared in the state polls, and the highest since being ranked #2 in 2016-17. The boys were also ranked 5th in 2005-06.

Meanwhile, the Lady Indians appear in Sandy Spiel's state rankings as the #10 team in Class 1A Private after a 3-2 start to the season. The girls are now ranked for the 4th straight season, representing the only 4 known times in school history to appear in the poll. Last season, the Lady Indians spent time as the #9-ranked team, which was the best ranking in school history.
