TFS Mushrooms beat 4th-ranked Apalachee to reach Elite 8

Just two days after a win over Peachtree Ridge that got the 'TFS Mushrooms' into the Sweet 16, the group moved one step closer to a state championship on Thursday with a win over #4-ranked Apalachee. The League of Legends team won 2-0 to secure a third straight Elite 8 appearance in just the program's third year.

"The Mushrooms played fiercely and executed perfectly as a team," says coach Casey Barron. "The Apalachee team was caught off guard at the skill level of our players. The team started off strong and never let up until game two was over."

Next up for the Mushrooms is North Oconee on December 6 at 4 PM.

On Wednesday, other TFS ESports teams competed, with Jesse Reames finishing the season ranked 16th in the state in the MADDEN League. He fell in the opening round of the playoffs.

The Rocket League team of Eli Damron, Adam Kennedy, and Ezekiel Phillips wrapped up their fall season with a tough loss in the state playoffs Monday.

"This was a new team and they had a very successful first season together," states Barron. "I have been impressed by their attitudes and strive to get better each week. Myself and Coach Josh Brady are proud of all of the teams and have enjoyed coaching every one of them. All of the teams worked hard and all but one made the state playoffs."
