Indians drop second straight; JV teams fall also at Athens Christian

 
 

The TFS Indians suffered a second straight loss for the first time this season, and for the first time since February of 2020. The #7-ranked Indians fell 54-43 to Athens Christian on the road Friday night.

The Indians trailed just 12-9 after the first, and Athens Christian pulled away in the second, hitting a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to push the lead up to 23-15 heading into the break.

The lead got up to double digits on multiple occasions and led 34-24 after the third quarter. Though the home team continued to hit shots, TFS pulled back to within 46-43 in the last minute of the game. From there, Athens Christian made good on their free throw shots while Tallulah Falls missed several 3-pointers.

The Indians are now 17-4 overall and 7-3 in region play. 

The JV Indians lost a nail-biter, 50-49 to Athens Christian. Bentley Huff's 19 points paced the offense, while Vlad Popescu had 9 and Sam Ketch 7. KC Respress, Zakhar Valasiuk, and Kyrstian Jankiewicz all had 4 apiece in the loss.

The loss ended a 9-game win streak for the Indians, who are now 10-3 overall and 7-1 in region play.

The JV girls dropped a 50-29 decision, moving to 2-4 on the season.
