Indians of the Month: September 2022

TFS has named the Indians of the Month for September 2022. This month's selections are Katie Anderson and Milos Ivancevic for high school, and Avery Keim and William NeSmith for middle school. MORE INDIANS OF THE MONTH

Katie Anderson - Softball (HS Girl)

Katie Anderson pitched a stellar game with 2 strikeouts complemented by Rylee Vandiver's solid catching behind the plate. She led the team with 4 RBIs as she cleared the bases in the second inning with a double to the outfield. Katie also is a positive leader with an incredible work ethic. She always sets a great example for our team! -coach Danielle Smith

Milos Ivancevic - Cross Country (HS Boy)

Milos Ivancevic, a sophomore, is new to cross country, but you wouldn't know it by his daily focus, intensity, and desire to improve. He has the second-best 5k time on the team this season and is improving each week. Milos demonstrates poise within the team, yet easily expresses joy in the multitude of trails, waterfalls, overlooks, hills, and team activities. He is quickly learning the most valuable harrier trait - managing discomfort. Milos consistently fulfills the 2022 athletic theme of disciplined fire (igniting a passion through choosing wisely the daily standards necessary for success). He is a positive presence in our team culture. -coach Scott Neal

Avery Keim - Cross Country (MS Girl)

Avery Keim has done everything a coach looks for in a middle school harrier. She worked out all summer in preparation for the season, even requesting team practices. She applies herself every single day in practice in hopes that her personal investments result in improvement at the meets, which they have. She is the epitome of what we want in a TFS GREAT athlete and leader. Avery continually thinks about the team; she owns her responsibilities and distinctly seeks to be a positive presence for the betterment of the team. Momentary and long term decisions are made based on commitment instead of convenience - she sets the tone of the very essence of TFS cross country! -coach Scott Neal

William NeSmith - Tennis (MS Boy)

William NeSmith is the Indian of the Month for middle school boys tennis. William just started playing tennis this summer, but he held the second singles spot for all the month of September. William attacks every challenge in front of him with great energy and tenacity. He works extremely hard in practice and in matches, and he has steadily improved his tennis skill and match play over the course of the season. When going through a tough stretch against difficult opponents recently, he asked his coach, 'What do I need to do to win?' With that, we worked on some specific things to try to help give him a little more of an advantage, and he has won his last two matches against tough opponents. William is a terrific example of what we look for in student-athletes at TFS. -coach Anthony Cox
