JV Lady Indians close season with win over Banks

 
 

The JV Lady Indians, who previously had won 14 straight matches on the way to a region runner-up finish, capped the 2022 season with at home against Banks County on Thursday.

The opening set was a dominating 25-10 win for TFS. With Chesney Tanksley at serve, the Lady Indians went on a quick 6-0 run, capped by a nice kill from Katarina Foskey. Banks County then used a 6-point run to tie the set before Jace Ibemere smashed a ball down the line for a kill. Foskey had two more kills that helped spark another TFS run. Banks County promptly called a timeout, and Heyl's next kill made it a 16-7 lead. Kate Gary had a great serving run, recording multiple aces as part of a 14-0 that had the girls up 21-7. After Banks County interrupted with a mini-run, TFS finished it off with a kill by Heyl to claim the set.

In the second set, it was more of the same for Tallulah Falls, as the Lady Indians raced out to a quick 16-5 run, again forcing Banks County to use a timeout and capitalizing on several mistakes. Foskey, Gary, Tanksley, and Heyl had several great plays, as did many others throughout the second set. Kiersten George played great up front, and notched a kill late to put TFS within a couple points of the set and match win. Caroline Smith's kill made it 24-8, and Tanksley had the final kill to win the set and claim the match.

The Lady Indians are now 22-5 overall, capping a fantastic season.
