Indians of the Week: October 31-November 5

TFS has named the Indian of the Week for the week of October 31-November 5. This week's selections are Sarah Jennings and Canon Brooks for high school. MORE INDIANS OF THE WEEK

Sarah Jennings - Volleyball (HS Girl)

Sarah Jennings has led in every way possible this past week. She played with passion, grit, and sacrifice to help lead her team to the first State Championship in school history. She led her team in the Final Four and State Championship matches in Kills, Hitting %, Digs and Serve-Receive. As a senior Sarah leaves a legacy behind and will be remembered as a fearless leader and determined competitor. -coach Matt Heyl 

Canon Brooks - Cross Country (HS Boy)

Canon Brooks, senior and Captain, ran the best race of his four-year TFS cross country career at the State Championship, placing 110th of 202 among the 31 represented schools in 21:17.53 in classification AD1. What made the race so special was that Canon had been fighting flu-like symptoms the previous couple days, yet refused to allow doubt to creep in. He staved off fatigue with an excellent race strategy, narrowed his focus, stayed poised, and left it all on the course. Both he and junior Jackson Shadburn have placed less than a second from each other in each of the last three races, inspiring each other to do their best. -coach Scott Neal
