Tri-State Champs! MS Indians reclaim title from Towns County

The Indians MS basketball team traveled to Towns County on Saturday morning and avenged last year's title game loss to Towns with a 40-27 win to reclaim the Tri-State Conference Championship.

Towns County was the top seed in the Tri-State Conference, but TFS played to a 16-14 slim halftime lead. The Indians outscored Towns County 24-12 in the second half to win the title, which marked the second in the past three years.

Eight different players chipped in with scoring, led by Asa Popham's 11 points. Derrick Lane and Isaac Farris had 6 points apiece, and Brian Neely added 5. Jack Greene and Ethan Phasavang contributed with 4 points each, while Lincoln Hicks and Brantley Addison both scored 2 points.

“What a game to be a part of," exclaims coach Nathan Stanley. "The atmosphere, the fans, and the guys all showed up. Grit and determination were the focus for the boys coming out at half time."

The Indians close the season with a 10-3 overall record, and now have four Tri-State Championships in their history.
