Indians of the Month: January 2023

TFS has named the Indians of the Month for January 2023. This month's selections are Denika Lightbourne and Diego Crotta for high school, and LB Kafsky and Asa Popham for middle school. MORE INDIANS OF THE MONTH

Denika Lightbourne - Basketball

Denika Lightbourne has shown herself to be the most dominant player in this region with her elite-level play. She has averaged to date 31.6 points a game while shooting 58.0% from the field, 61% from the 3-point line, and 91% from the free throw line, averaging 12 rebounds, 3.5 steals, and 3 blocks in region play. Denika has also tied the school's single-game scoring record with 40 points versus Commerce. -coach Lowell Hamilton

Diego Crotta - Basketball

Diego Crotta has been a resilient and solid contributor to the varsity boys' basketball team throughout January. Diego's effort on defense has paralyzed his opponents and stopped them from scoring. He has contributed with significant scoring, many assists, and quick transition attacks. -coach Cody Coleman

LB Kafsky - Basketball

Over the course of the season, LB has been a leader on and off the court! She contributed greatly on offense and her defense was top notch. She led the team in rebounding. -coach Tykia Thompson

Asa Popham - Basketball

Over the last two weeks of the basketball season, Asa averaged over 15 points per game, helping lead the boys to a Tri-State Championship over Towns County. Asa has stepped up as a leader for the Indians on the court on the offensive end when needed. Asa has a bright future with basketball as he will be looked on heavily next year as an eighth grader. -coach Nathan Stanley
