Indians' win streak snapped in 7-6 loss to Athens Academy
Tallulah Falls had its 4-game win streak brought to a halt in a 7-6 loss Wednesday at Athens Academy. TFS rallied from 4 runs down but fell just short.
In the second inning, Chase Pollock drove home the game's first run on a single only to see the Spartans tack on 5 runs in the home half. The Indians retaliated with their own 5-run third inning, highlighted by a Caden Walker RBI double and Zaiden Cox's game-tying sac fly.
Athens Academy got a 2-run single in its half of the third inning, pulling ahead 7-5. Danny Grant singled in Ashton Roache in the sixth inning to make it a 1-run contest, but TFS went down in order in the final at-bat.
Pollock had a pair of hits and an RBI to lead the offense. Andrew Skvarka took the tough-luck loss despite pitching very well in relief. He lasted 4.1 innings and gave up 2 runs (both unearned) and struck out one. The loss brings TFS to a 10-10 overall record.
