Higbie sets new goals record, Foor new assists record in regular season finale

History continued for TFS girls soccer on Thursday at Athens Christian in a 10-0 win that came with a lengthy lightning delay. In the regular season finale, Addie Higbie set yet another single-game goals record, and Tessa Foor set the single-match assists record as well.

It was a 6-0 lead at the break, and the #8-ranked Lady Indians piled on 4 more goals the rest of the way. The goalkeeping by Kyndal Anderson was phenomenal once again, as was the back line. Higbie notched 7 goals, passing her own previous record of 6 in a single game. Foor had 4 assists, making a new single-game record.

"After over a week since our last match, I had some concerns about how we would rebound," admits coach Travis Mullis. "Fortunately, the girls were dedicated to attend a practice before the game, and that really paid off I think. Their willingness to prepare to play and then compete tonight during their Spring Break speaks volumes about their desire to play and be successful."

Of the records set, Mullis was proud of his players' accomplishments along the way.

"Addie's 7 goals are one that anyone would do a double-take over," Mullis says. "Tessa's 4 assists, I think most coaches would want a player with that as an objective because it means more goals are on the other end. To achieve multiple goals and assists means that other players are doing their roles exceptionally well. Players like Maddie Mullis who not only make defensive stops but also starts the attack, midfielders like Lily Desta and Elsa Sanchez who help our team become responsive instead of reactive through consistently providing accurate and thoughtful passing. These girls and others help make winning possible." 

TFS is now 11-3 overall and finished 8-2 in region play, and will now host the state playoffs next Tuesday. The 11th win ties the school single-season record for the Lady Indians, while the 74 goals scored is now a single-season mark as well, with the 6th shutout tying last year's record-setting mark.
