Skvarka hurls complete game as Indians drop pitcher's duel

Andrew Skvarka pitched a brilliant complete game for the Indians, but lost 2-1 Tuesday night at Athens Christian in a game that TFS homered on its first at-bat and got no other hits the rest of the way.

Frankey Moree launched a homer to left on the fourth pitch of the game, but had no real threats the remainder of the contest. The Eagles retaliated with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first which represented the game's final runs. One run was unearned.

The Indians went down in order in the second, third, fourth, and fifth innings. Ashton Roache walked to lead off the sixth, but got no further. No one else reached base for TFS, either by error, hit by pitch, hit, or walk.

Skvarka, meanwhile, was lights out after the first. He pitched a 1-2-3 third, fourth, and fifth frame, and induced a double-play ball in the second. He worked around an error in the sixth as well. He finished with a complete game, 5-hitter. He walked none and struck out 3 batters, allowing just one earned run.

The Indians are now 11-12 overall and 8-5 in region play.
