State Playoff Preview: Indians Tennis

It's been 46 years since the boys tennis team has had a region title. The wait is over, as the Indians generated a perfect 14-0 season and rolled through the region tournament. In the first year under coach Anthony Cox, TFS is thriving with what is still a very young team.

The boys got win number 14, matching the program single-season record. A first round win will set a new mark and build off last year's Sweet 16 appearance. TFS is looking to get to the second round as a team for only the third time should it succeed.

At 1- and 2-singles, the Indians have been about as dominant as any team in the state. Sophomores Tanner Davis (1S) and TJ Cox (2S) are both 14-0 on the season, and both are one win shy of tying Javier de Claire's single-season record of 15 set in 2013.

William Xu has a pair of wins at 3-singles, and the doubles unit of Zach Carringer and Jake Owensby have combined for 9 wins, just one win shy of their 10 they combined for last season. The single-season record is 11 for a TFS doubles combo. Justin Graham and Aiden VanOrman have 5 doubles wins as well.

The Pepperell Dragons are the opening round opponents taking on TFS, and were the 4-seed from Region 6-A DI.
