Ketch, Akisanya earn titles in first day of Region Championship
In the first of the two-day GHSA Region 8-A DI Region Championship meet, Tallulah Falls saw a couple claim individual region titles and several earn state sectional bids.
At the time of this report on the first day of events, the TFS Lady Indians are in fifth among five teams, while the Indians are third among six. Sam Ketch's discus throw was about a 10-foot PR, and Ade Akisanya's shot put was also a personal-best. The boys 4x200 Relay broke a school record with a 1:32.76, as Nana Amankwah, Blair Moore, Nnamdi Ezunu, and Tyler Brown teamed up to make history. They bested their own previous record set last season (same quartet).
The following have placed in the top-10 of their respective events. Day two of the championships is slated for Tuesday. Top-4 finishers qualify for sectionals (bold).
