#1-ranked Pit Vipers claim another championship

The Tallulah Falls School Pit VIpers had a fabulous showing at the Boogie & Blues Festival in Calhoun, GA. The Pit Vipers finished:

  • 3rd in Chicken
  • 2nd in Ribs
  • 5th in Pork
  • 3rd in Brisket
  • Grand Championship

The Pit Vipers scored a 691 for a four category turn-in which marks the highest score in Pit Vipers history since 2018.

“We were short-handed due to spring sports but the kids really performed well,” says Head Pitmaster Tom TIley.

The championship will further add to the Pit Viper lead in the Georgia BBQ Championship points standing. This is the third time the Vipers have won this BBQ event.

“We only had three students which was kind of hard, but we pulled through,” says sophomore Jack Owensby.

The Pit Vipers at the event included junior Matthew Wolfe of Cornelia, and sophomores Jake Owensby of Cornelia and Teryk Tilley of Tallulah Falls.

Next up for the Pit Vipers will be the Pigs & Peaches Competition on August 18 in Kennesaw, GA.
