TFS has named the Indians of the Month for April 2023. This month's selections are Jaeda-Lee Daniel-Joseph and Tanner Davis for high school, and Ca'Rin Swinton and Teagan Penalnd for middle school. MORE INDIANS OF THE MONTH

Jaeda-Lee Daniel-Joseph - Tennis

In the month of April, Jaeda-Lee Daniel-Joseph was nothing short of spectacular on the tennis court. She was 4-0 through the region tournament and the first two rounds of the state playoffs, dropping no sets in the process and losing a total of five games. She has become much more consistent over the course of the season and led her team from the #2 singles line. -coach Anthony Cox

Tanner Davis - Tennis

Tanner Davis has had an outstanding month and season in the #1 singles line for the tennis team. The sophomore won matches in the semifinals and finals in the region tournament over Athens Christian and Rabun. Then, he had an easy victory in the first round of the state tournament. Tanner has worked really hard over the last year to improve his level of play and his consistency. Tanner has been an anchor at the top of the lineup all year, and he is very worthy of this honor. -coach Anthony Cox

Ca'Rin Swinton - Track

Seventh-grader Ca'Rin Swinton was clearly the top performer among the TFS MS girls this season, winning the 100 meter in five meets and placing fourth in two others. She also won the 200 meter five times and placed second in another. Even after only three meets running the 100 meter hurdles, she is ranked #83 in the state out of over 850 results. She has improved over a second in both short sprints since last season. Highly competitive, Ca'Rin is fueled by contests in which she is challenged and would rather lose in a battle with stronger foes than win against less challenging competition. Her focus rubs off on her peers and helps her teammates to push themselves even more. -coach Scott Neal

Teagan Penland - Track

Eighth-grader Teagan Penland has had quite a month! After a solid cross country season and a stellar swim season, he quickly became a highly competitive distance runner with a solid range between 800-3200 meter. He broke the 15-year-old 1600 meter MS record by five seconds, won the 800 or 1600 at every Tri-State Meet, and won the 3200 meter at the Small Private School Championship among 16 schools. He finished the season state ranked #158 in the 800 meter, #47 in the 1600 meter, and #38 in the 3200 meter; each ranking among well over 1,000 middle schoolers in Georgia. Teagan is a prime example that a three-sport athlete can be highly successful, utilizing each of the sports to help each other and to form the mental fortitude that integrates into each sport as well as the academic discipline needed. He is a role model of poise, persistence, and purposeful preparation! -coach Scott Neal
