Indians of the Month: August 2023

TFS has named the Indians of the Month for the month of August 2023. This month's selections are Addy McCoy and Jackson Shadburn for high school, and Gabriella Oliver/Elizabeth Stafford and Reilly Cox for middle school. MORE INDIANS OF THE MONTH

Addy McCoy - Volleyball

Addy McCoy has stepped into so many roles this year. She has stepped into the leadership role and grown in it all through this month. She has learned how to lead and inspire despite how the match is going. For the first time in her High School volleyball career, she has played all the way around in all six rotations when needed. This is a very tiring addition to her game but has done so very well. She did this to help in an area her team was struggling with and gladly did it. Beyond all that she is a leader in every major category. -coach Matt Heyl

Jackson Shadburn - Cross Country

Team Captain Jackson Shadburn has worked harder than ever over the summer to make his senior season one to remember. Whether the many 50-mile weeks even while working a full-time job, leading the annual Quadrathlon, nearly setting his XC personal time record in an early season meet, planning for more team bonding activities for the season, leading by example daily, or delving into the lives of others on the team, Jackson is setting a GREAT example of leadership while performing at his best. The team is a big WE, little me type of mentality for him, and he demonstrates daily a genuine desire to not only extract the best from each day in cross-country but to give to others the same type of sincere opportunity for each of them to carpe diem as well. -coach Scott Neal

Gabriella Oliver/Elizabeth Stafford - Tennis

The Tennis Indian of the Month for the girls team is the #1 doubles combo Gabriella Oliver and Elizabeth Stafford. Since the beginning of the season, these girls have consistently worked hard and really focused on improving their tennis games. They earned the #1 doubles position, and last week the pair secured two important and convincing wins in our first two matches of the season. Gabby and Elizabeth have been great teammates, and their opponents have complimented them on their kindness during matches. -coach Anthony Cox

Reilly Cox - Tennis

The Tennis Indian of the Month for the boys team is #1 singles player Reilly Cox. Reilly came out swinging this season with two impressive wins at the #1 singles position. While Reilly is one of our less vocal leaders, he does lead by example. He has been working to be more vocal in practice as well. In his matches, he controls the flow of the game and has been consistent in his serving. He is kind to his teammates, encouraging others while also taking on the responsibility of yearbook photographer during their matches. -coach Anthony Cox
