MS volleyball A-Team beats Madison County in home match

The MS volleyball teams split on Monday at home against Madison County. The A-Team won in straight sets while the B-Team lost both sets. The night also featured honoring 8th-graders Ca'Rin Swinton, Finlee Ridlehoover, Payton McEntire, Lily Smith, Madi Williams, and Keely Franks on the A-Team, and Paisley Elrod, Tinsley Hill, and Stella Rose Bowman of the B-Team.

The A-Team fought hard to a 26-24 first set win, then secured the match with a 25-15 second set over Madison.

"I was so proud of our team," exclaims coach Natasha McEntire. "They played diligently. They kept communication alive for both games."

Smith and McEntire had some nice blocks, while Swinton had several big kills. Ridlehoover was able to set up some great kills as well. Franks made some dive saves, and Williams helped secure the second set win.

The B-Team lost 25-17 and then 25-21.

"We stayed pretty close through the games, staying tied at times but just couldn't pull out the win," adds McEntire.

Bowman led at the service line with a few aces. Hill made solid passes, and Elrod, despite a minor injury, had some floating serves.

The A-Team is now 11-7 overall and 7-3 in league play, while the B-Team drops to 3-5-5 overall. The teams play in Elbert this upcoming Saturday in the season-ending tournament.
