MS Indians secure Southern Mountain League Championship

The MS Indians beat Rabun Gap in the semifinals and Habersham in the Southern Mountain League Championship match on Wednesday evening, claiming their first league title since 2020.

TFS first took on Rabun Gap, winning 3-1 in a match where Reilly Cox won at 1-singles and both doubles lines came away victorious. That propelled Tallulah Falls to the title match against host Habersham. TFS won 3-0, with Cox's win clinching the match and league title.

"Everyone in the lineup contributed to our victory today, with each player or doubles combination winning at least one of their matches," states coach Anthony Cox. "Both opponents were tough competition as we expected. In the championship, Jackson [Davis] got us on the board at 3-singles. Fenn [NeSmith] and Christian [David] got out to a big lead and held on to give us the second win. Then, with Maddox [English] and Max [Pulliam] at 2-doubles in a tiebreak and Elijah [Pinney] at 3-singles close to clinching, Reilly [Cox] finished things off for the championship. It was fitting that our top player all season was able to be the deciding match."

The SML title is the first in three years for TFS, and third overall. The boys end the season at 11-1 overall.

"We are so proud of these boys for the championship they have earned," adds Cox. "They have worked hard all season, and to be undefeated in the regular season and through the tournament is quite a feat. We hope it's the start of a run over the next several years."
