TFS Students Learn to Snorkel

On Friday, March 1, TFS fifth and eighth graders took snorkeling lessons in the natatorium from the Atlanta based Aquatics Explorers Society. At present, grades five through eight have all completed the snorkeling program. All incoming lower school students participate in the Learn to Swim Program based on the American Red Cross curriculum. By providing all our students with the basics of swimming, we can springboard into fun and exciting aquatic activities like snorkeling.

For most of our students, this was their first experience snorkeling. “I've never been snorkeling before, and this was a great first time," said Addisyn McCoy. It was also fifth grader Kayleigh McEntire’s first time snorkeling. "It was a fun and new experience," she said. "It wasn't hard, and it was fun. I hope I can snorkel again soon."

Natatorium director Katie Ralston has worked closely with AES over the years and speaks highly of Genette Waddell and her team of instructors. “The instructors with AES are super professional and organized,” she said. “They give excellent directions about equipment and safety. We always enjoy having them come, and we look forward to doing more in the future.”
