Precision rifle has two teams qualify for July's National Championship

Tallulah Falls' Precision Rifle team, fresh off a State Runner-Up finish, set out for Georgia Military College for the State 3x20 CMP/JO Championship with is a National Championship Qualifier

"Being more interested in getting all these amazing athletes on a national stage than I am in a State CMP championship, I divided the team as evenly as possible, with some trepidation of the outcome," says coach Tim Stamey.

The five athletes that shot at last week's GHSA State Championships had a higher overall score this week. Two TFS teams of four shot over 20 points higher than the automatic-in score of 2280, thus qualifying for the National Championship.

The National 3x20 Championship is slated for July in Camp Perry, Ohio.

Joseph McGahee earned an individual automatic-in to nationals with a 587, with Chloe Erwin and Brianna Walter just behind with 582 each. Marc Crotta shot a 579, Leah Rogers 578, Kylee Loudermilk 577, Mitchell McGahee 566, Zeek Pruitt 564, and Ethan Simmons 553.

For Joseph McGahee, Erwin, Crotta, Mitchell McGahee, and Pruitt, their scores marked new 3x20 PRs. Walter will be shooting in the 60 Shot Standing Junior Olympic National Championship during the upcoming spring break, while Joseph McGahee and Crotta will be shooting the men’s matches a week after.

"Amazing things are happening due to hard work and a great teamwork attitude from an elite group of student athletes that bless everyone they come in contact with," adds Stamey.
