Season Recap: JV Baseball

One hiccup is all that stood in the way for the JV baseball team. Winners of the first nine contests of the season, TFS lost only once in the first game of a double-header with Hart County. They rebounded quickly later that day, then polished off the season with a 12-1 win in late March in what was a great snapshot of what the season was.

The 11-1 record tells the story, but coach Kyle Dampier’s lineup was a nightmare for opposing pitchers. Five times, Tallulah Falls put up double-digit runs, as the team scored 107 runs, averaging nearly nine per game. The pitching was equally impressive, as TFS gave up just 31 total runs, with only 17 earned.

Jackson Savage showed no mercy, as the sophomore led the team in average (.615), OBP (.629), and RBI (12), adding 11 runs scored, 11 stolen bases, and two doubles. Freshman Jordan Miller (.478, 8 RBI, 11 R) was a mainstay, adding a team-high 18 stolen bases as well. Sophomore Wyatt Dorsey (.318, 10 RBI, 10 R, 3 2B, 4 SB), junior Justin Smith (.476, 6 RBI, 11 R, 7 SB, 4 2B) were key pieces in the lineup, as was junior Robert Grant (.381), freshman William NeSmith (.375), sophomore Griffin Harkness (.360), and freshman Drew Barron (.360).

Grant (3-0, 1 Save, 0.60 ERA, 20 K) was lights out on the mound, and Barron (4-0, 1.15 ERA, 26 K) was equally impressive. Harkness (3-1, 1.81 ERA, 30 K) had the best swing-and-miss stuff on the staff.
