State Playoff Preview (Sweet 16): Boys Soccer

The Indians made quick work of Prince Avenue Christian in the first round, taking a 10-0 win to advance. TFS (15-1) is ranked #2 in the state, and now have 94 goals scored against just 11 allowed. Senior Jake Wehrstein (8 G, 4 A) and freshman Kale Borchers (9 G, 10 A) both recorded their first hat tricks in the win, though Wehrstein, an All-State defender, will likely push back onto defense after playing forward this past game.

Senior Austin Ball (33 G, 9 A), the all-time leading scorer for TFS, will look to put pressure on 3-seed Mt. Vernon early and often along with juniors Jackson Cording (15 G, 4 A) and Clay Kafsky (7 G, 12 A). Junior keeper Kelton Reynolds will rely on his defense to keep the pressure of him in the meantime. The #5-ranked Mustangs are coming off a 3-2 win over Darlington in the first round. Mt. Vernon is 8-4-4 overall and are a fairly young team.
