Indians take game one behind complete game shutout by Pollock

The Indians got a complete game shutout from Chase Pollock, and he was backed with plenty of offense in a 5-0 game one final of the state Elite 8. #4-ranked TFS defeated #8-ranked Swainsboro with a blend of great pitching, some power, and great base running.

Diego Gonzalez had a sac fly in the first to get Pollock some early support. In the third, Gonzalez singled to left to plate Chris Waldron. Ashton Roache then hit a sac fly to shallow left, with Danny Grant racing home and diving in safely. Pollock helped his own cause with a 2-out single to left, with Gonzalez crossing the plate for the 4-0 lead and capping a 3-run frame.

Pollock then struck out the side in the fourth, and Caden Walker lifted a high towering homerun down the line in left to open the fifth. Pollock emphatically shut it down in the seventh, striking out the final hitter to secure the win.

Waldron and Walker had two hits apiece, and Gonzalez had two RBI and a run scored along with a hit. Pollock was spectacular, throwing a complete game shutout in seven innings with eight strikeouts, giving up just four hits and a walk on 90 pitches.
