Alumni Success Story: Katy Corbett '21

From her time at Tallulah Falls School, where she balanced academics and athletics, to her success at Mercer University, and now her pursuit of nursing, alumna Katy Corbett’s (’21) journey reflects resilience, dedication, and a commitment to excellence—on the court and beyond.

Corbett played on Mercer’s beach volleyball team. “I would not change a single thing about my time at Mercer as a student athlete,” she said. “The experience was phenomenal.”

During her successful four-year career, she and her partner set several records. They had the most wins as a pair. In her senior year, her team won the Team of the Year award. At the end of her senior season, she and her partner received the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top Flight Award, the single most wins in a season, All-Conference Second Team, and Academic All-District. “It was a cherry on top,” she said. “From where I started, to where I am now, I could not have asked for it to end in a better way. It was not always easy. I played indoor and basketball at TFS. It took a lot of time and training. I am grateful to my coach, who took a chance on me.”

In May, Corbett graduated from Mercer with a B.S in biology. This fall, she will begin her master's in nursing at Augusta University, Athens Campus.
