Indians of the Week named for week ending October 3

The Indians of the Week are chosen by coaches, and recognize student-athletes that play sports that are currently in season. This week's Indians of the Week (for the week of September 28-October 3) include Kitty Rodenas and Henry Rickman for high school, and Allison Bailey and Tanner Davis for middle school. PAST INDIANS OF THE WEEK

Kitty Rodenas - Volleyball

High School Girl

Kitty Rodenas' serving, hitting, and defensive play in the back row have been a major contributing factor to the JV Volleyball team's recent success. She comes to the court with a contagiously positive attitude and picks up the team when in tough situations. Kitty continues to lead the team in kills and is one of our toughest servers.

Henry Rickman - Cross Country

High School Boy

Within three days and two meets, ninth grader Henry Rickman set a personal record 5k at the home TFS course, then cut off another 2:26 to establish a new best 22:44.60, a rare accomplishment in such a short period of time. Henry basically chose to not listen to the intense pain that accompanies racing hard and instead focused on strategies while internalizing the melding between discomfort and revitalized goals. His performance was an inspiration to the team!

Allison Bailey - Cross Country

Middle School Girl

Eighth grader Allison Bailey placed fourth of 39 peers while running 12:43.73 for the 3k Athens Academy course, a 1:34 improvement since the end of August at the same venue. This week she also placed 13th of 109 racers in 14:35.80 for the two mile Mountain Invite Unicoi. She is presently ranked 40th of over 1000 GA peers  and #2 on the TFS Legacy List for her 3k time. Allison practices diligently, focuses intently, competes fiercely, and is GREAT to her teammates.

Tanner Davis - Tennis

Middle School Boy

Tanner Davis has played #1 singles all year with a record of 6-1. He played against the #1 singles player from Habersham who was #1 singles in the league and Tanner defeated him and won 8-3. Tanner showed mental toughness and great determination. I am very excited to have been able to coach this young man for 3 straight years.
